1. Overview

GenWeather provides location search and weather-related information. We design features to work with as little personal data as practical. Some processing is required to operate the Service (for example, delivering pages, securing forms, and resolving weather for a place you select).

By using the Service, you acknowledge this Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use. Related rules appear in our Terms of Service and Cookie Policy.

2. Data collection

Depending on how you use GenWeather, we may process the following categories of information:

• Search and location inputs: city, town, or village queries you type, and place selections you make.
• Technical data: IP address, browser type, device type, approximate request time, referring URL, and standard server log fields needed for security and reliability.
• Homepage personalization (optional): a coarse approximate location derived from IP may reorder featured and nearby cities for this browsing session only. Results stay in session storage on your device and are not written to a permanent GenWeather profile.
• Contact form data: name, email address, subject, and message when you submit the Contact form.
• On-device session data: short-lived values such as recent GenWeather searches or motivational message state stored in your browser session storage for that tab.
• Map and planning interactions: optional browser location if you choose "Use my location", plus the city you select for maps or planning tools.
• Account or admin data: if you are a site administrator, WordPress may process login credentials and settings according to WordPress and your host configuration.

We do not require a consumer account to search weather or open city forecasts on GenWeather Home pages.

3. How we use information

We use information to:

• Provide search results, forecasts, maps, planning guidance, and related page content.
• Operate, secure, and troubleshoot the Service, including rate limiting and abuse prevention.
• Respond to messages you send through the Contact form.
• Improve clarity, performance, and reliability of GenWeather Home features.
• Comply with law, enforce terms, and protect users, operators, and the Service.

Motivational messages on the homepage may use local time, weather already shown on the page, and recent GenWeather searches stored in your browser session. That feature does not read your general browsing history.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

The Service may use cookies and similar technologies that are necessary to run WordPress, keep administrative sessions secure, and remember limited functional preferences. Session storage may also be used for short-lived on-device features described above.

5. Analytics

GenWeather Home does not ship a built-in third-party marketing analytics pixel. Your hosting environment, CDN, or site operator may enable analytics, logging, or performance monitoring tools outside this plugin.

If analytics tools are enabled on the site, they may collect usage metrics such as pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP, device/browser information, and interaction events according to that tool provider's terms and your site configuration.

We encourage site operators to disclose any additional analytics vendors they enable and to provide consent mechanisms where required by law.

6. Third-party services

To deliver weather and maps, GenWeather may rely on third-party infrastructure and data sources, including:

• Weather data providers (for example, OpenWeatherMap) used through GenWeather Core configuration.
• Map base layers (for example, OpenStreetMap tile servers) for interactive map pages.
• Hosting, DNS, CDN, email delivery, and WordPress infrastructure operated by the site owner or their vendors.

Third parties process data under their own privacy policies. GenWeather does not control every upstream provider's retention or security practices. Do not submit sensitive personal data through search fields.

7. Retention

Server logs and security records are retained only as long as reasonably needed for operations, security, and legal compliance. Contact form messages are retained as needed to respond and keep ordinary business records.

Browser session storage is controlled on your device and typically clears when the tab or browser session ends, subject to your browser settings.

8. User rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or portability of personal data we hold about you, and to withdraw consent where processing is consent-based.

You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. To exercise privacy requests related to GenWeather pages on this site, use the Contact form and describe your request.

We may need to verify your request and may decline requests that are unlawful, manifestly unfounded, or that would impair the rights of others or required security logs.

9. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child provided personal data through the Contact form, contact us so we can delete it where appropriate.

10. International processing

The Service may be hosted or supported in countries other than your own. Where data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards required by applicable law and on contractual and organizational measures used by hosting and service providers.

11. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will change when we publish revisions. Continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised Policy, except where additional consent is required by law.
